Slovenia is located in Central Europe, situated where the Alps meet the Mediterranean. The country is well known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. The famous Lake Bled is one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions, an emerald green lake surrounded by beautiful forests, a draw for water-sports enthusiasts, hikers and mountain bikers.

If you are less of the “outdoorsy” type there is still plenty to discover…

The capital city Ljubljana is one of Europe’s greenest cities and was awarded the Green Capital of Europe title in 2016. Car traffic is restricted in the city centre freeing it up for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy. During the summer the cafe's lining the river set up terrace seating creating a buzzing nightlife set against the stunning Ljubljana River backdrop.

When to go

  • Ski season runs from mid-December to March/April. Christmas/New Years can be crowded.
  • High season is between June and August, coastal areas get very busy and advanced booking is advised.
  • Hotels tend to be at a lower rate between April/May and after the summer high season around September/October

March/April/May As snow melts on the mountains it brings life back to the valleys as everything thaws out and spring plants start to bloom. Some cold and wet days and some warmer spring days

June/July/August is mostly sunny with occasional storm; temperatures can reach over 30C.

September/October/November is around mid 20’s

December/January/February very cold but great for skiing!
