ROYAL wedding memorabilia is set to be in huge demand as retailers have under-stocked by an incredible 90 per cent, according to research.
Despite talk of Royal Wedding fatigue, almost a third of
Britons plan to spend about £60 on items commemorating
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day.
Such spending would see retailers rake in about £1billion
– but the total value of wedding-related stock in the shops
comes to only £133million.
Dean Wilson of corporate trade specialist Active
International, which carried out the research, said: “The
Royal Wedding has captured our imagination and
consumers are keen to invest in a keepsake.
“Retailers seem to be missing a trick and instead of
stocking too much, the shelves will empty too soon.”
